a work in progress: 30×40 inches

Aanii, Boozhoo and halloo there! I hope all is well in your camp today: Thursday, Jan. 22, right around noon.

I’m working on a 30×40 and have been for ages. Those thalo blues and greens require more than just a few coats in order to achieve that look we all love so much in a piece called “Rescue (c.1999)”. So here we are on a Thursday, 50 or so layers into the thalo blue. Thought I would snap this photo of the work in progress. I hope we have a photo of the finished piece soon!

Also: just one week to go at Venus Envy in Ottawa, if you’re in the mood for some ojibwe style “adult themed” woodland art!

2nd Annual Filthy Dirty Art Show, Venus Envy, this month!

Happy New Year! Let’s keep our fingers crossed that this one is going to be a good one! We started it off in a good way by getting in with the folks at Venus Envy, on Bank Street in downtown Ottawa, and their 2nd Annual Filthy Dirty Art Show! It opened on Saturday night with lots of folks coming out even though the weather was absolutely wild!

I have 5 pieces on display, 2 paintings and 3 photographs.

Of course we’ve been taking a lot of pictures over the past few years and it’s nice to have a venue to display this kind of work. If you want to see the paintings… you’re going to have to go see them for yourself! I’ll say this much about them, it’s definitely Ojibwe WOOD land art!
