it was a balmy 1 degree C. this morning!  the winds were rolling in from the north but the skies were clear and the sunrise was a beauty.  after a cup of coffee i took a quick morning stroll around the front lawn and snapped these photos:

the Mighty Manitou

the Mighty Manitou

ah lads there she is:  the Mighty Manitou at 7:30 a.m.  she’s running cold and clear and running full!  no sign of Edward, the bald eagle.  i haven’t seen him/her in quite a while.  i guess they’re working another part of the river.

she flows south west on its way to the Great Lake Huron, rolling out at Michael’s Bay, south shore, Manitoulin Island.  this little stretch on a hot summer day-paradise on earth!  this morning though she was nippy and i’m too wimpy to go barefoot in that one today.

well that’s her: the house on the open range where in winter it can be a lot of hard work but for the 6 months in between them it is a paradise!  on a morning like this past, a fun reminder that else where there are cities, 4 or 6 lane highways and more, cell phones, go trains, subways, airports, gridlock, addiction, accidents, collisions, horns honking, brakes grinding, blood shot eyes and spent chewing tobacco plugs lying here, there…

and everywhere.

it’s wonderful to be back in the country, living full time.

hopefully soon we’ll have time to make some art!
